South Carolina requires the following assessments:
4K: PALS (Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening); administered to 4K students during the 1st 45 days of school and again during the last 45 days.
5K: KRA (Kindergarten Readiness Assessment); administered to 5K students during the 1st 45 days of school.
3-8: SCReady: English Language Arts and Math assessment; Spring 2018 administration will be conducted as online testing during the last twenty days of school. The testing calendar will be published in early Spring.
4-8: SCPASS: Science and Social Studies; Spring 2018 administration will be conducted as online testing during the last twenty days of school. Beginning in Spring 2018, the SCPASS Science Assessment will be administered in grades 4, 6, and 8. The SCPASS Social Studies Assessment will be administered in grades 5 and 7. The testing calendar will be published in early Spring.
End of Course Examination Program administered in English 1, Algebra 1, Biology, and US History. Fall testing dates are: 12/6--English Language Arts Session 1-Writing/Text Dependent Analysis; 12/13--Biology, Algebra 1, US History; 12/14--English Language Arts 1 Session 2, Biology, US History.
Career Readiness assessment for 11th graders: All 11th graders are required to take the assessment. Additional information will be posted once the SCDE notifies districts of the selected assessment and dates.
WIDA ACCESS: administered in grade 5K-12 to identified English Learner students to assess English Language Acquisition. The state testing window is February 5th-March 23rd, 2018.
NCSC ELA and Math assessment: administered in grades 5K-12 to identified severely cognitively disabled students. The state testing window is February 26th-April 13th, 2018.
SC-Alt: Science and Social Studies assessment administered based on student age to identified severely cognitively disabled students. The state testing window is February 26th-April 13th, 2018.
College-entrance assessments for 11th graders: Students may opt to take either The ACT on March 20th paper and pencil, or The SAT on March 21st paper and pencil. The Guidance Office must have written proof signed by a parent/guardian regarding which of the tests a student will be taking, or indicating the student is opting not to take the test by Friday, November 10th. This is the only test offering from the State of South Carolina that students may opt out of taking.
